HYMN TO OUR LADY OF KNOCK

During the summer of 2002 the men of AOH Division 51 undertook their
first major project; the building of a Shrine to Our Lady of Knock. The Shrine was designed, funded and built by Division
members, and was built where an old doorway to Holy Name School once was on Gaul Street.
On September 11th, 2002
the Shrine was dedicated to Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Peace, by Monsignor John Conway, Father Greg Parlante (Pastor
of Holy Name Parish and Division 51's Chaplain), Father John Dolan and Father Bill McCandless.
Members of Division
51, Holy Name Parishioners, Fishtowners, and Brother and Sister Hibernians attended the Dedication. The Holy Name Guitar Group
provided music for the Mass and Dedication. Because of the closing and sale of Holy Name's school building, the Shrine to Our Lady of Knock was removed on Monday,
October 27th, 2008 following a service on Sunday, October 26th. The Shrine was rebuilt
outside Holy Name Parish's Rectory during the winter of 2009, and was rededicated on Sunday, January 17th, 2010. The
Shrine is maintained by the Division and is visited daily by people of the community. In August of each year, on
the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, the Philadelphia County LAOH sponsors a Mass at Holy Name in Honor of Our Lady of Knock, following
which flowers and candles were placed at the Shrine.
